Maestra Featured in Business Insight’s, “Leaders Shift Away from the ‘A-Player’ Myth”

I’m honored to share that Maestra was featured in a recent Business Insight article by Jon Stojan, “Leaders Abandon the ‘A-Player’ Myth to Build Teams on Clarity and Trust.” In this piece, Jon explores how organizations are moving past the idea of a few superstar “A-players” and instead building lasting success through clarity, psychological safety, and trust.

What stood out most to me was the article’s focus on clarity. When team members know exactly what’s expected of them and receive honest feedback rather than constant comparison, they can perform without fear. That’s the work I do at Maestra. I believe hard feedback, when grounded in transparency and delivered with care, is one of the greatest gifts a leader can give. As I told Jon: “If you actually pause and think about the gift that is hard feedback in your life, even if it sucked in the moment … you’ve grown on the other side of that hard.”

This feature reinforces a core truth I emphasize in my consulting. Complex organizations don’t just need individual stars; they need aligned, trusting teams with shared clarity. When everyone understands what success looks like, what their role is, and how they integrate with others, the organization becomes more resilient, more innovative, and far more capable of tackling its hardest objectives.

Thank you, Jon Stojan, for capturing and amplifying this important shift in leadership thinking. If you’re a leader wrestling with the “star-player myth,” let’s talk about how you can move toward clarity, feedback, and trust and build a team where every person can contribute at their highest.
